Critical Illness
While MAPFRE’s medical insurance offers valuable coverage, you will have out-of-pocket expenses such as copays, deductibles or coinsurance when a major illness occurs. If you or a family member is diagnosed with certain illnesses, critical illness coverage pays you a lump sum payment to assist in paying for things like your rent, mortgage, utilities, childcare and other expenses.
Choose from one of two available plans—one with $10,000 of coverage and a second option with $20,000 of coverage. Coverage is available for you, your spouse/domestic partner and/or your eligible child(ren).
The benefit paid is based on the specific illness.* For example:
condition | coverage |
---|---|
Invasive cancer | 100% |
Stroke | 100% |
Kidney failure | 100% |
Heart attack | 100% |
Major organ transplant | 100% |
Coma | 100% |
Paralysis | 100% |
Bone marrow transplant | 25% |
Non-invasive cancer | 25% |
*This is not an all-inclusive list. Refer to the Plan Documents for coverage details.
Accident Insurance
Even with the most comprehensive medical plan, your out-of-pocket expenses can add up when an accident occurs. The accident insurance plan provides an additional level of financial protection when you or a covered family member are in an accident.
The plan will pay a specific lump-sum benefit for one or more nonoccupational injuries caused in an accident or for treatments related to an accident.
Here are some examples of the benefits:
benefit | plan pays |
---|---|
Ambulance (ground) | $300 |
Concussion | $150 |
Hospital admission | $1,000 |
Emergency Room | $150 |
Joint replacement | $2,000 |
Lacerations | $300-$600 |
Ruptured disc | $750 |
Hospital Indemnity Plan
The hospital indemnity plan will pay a lump-sum benefit to assist in covering daily living expenses while you experience an inpatient hospital stay or for certain medical services or treatments. Rent, your mortgage, gas, groceries, utilities and more can be paid for with the cash benefit from this plan.
Coverage is available for you, your spouse/domestic partner and/or your eligible child(ren).
This is how the plan works:
